Create standard and private channels

Every team has the General channel by default. During provisioning, additional standard and private channels can be created automatically.

Customise the General channel

The default channel can already be renamed and preconfigured with the desired content via the template.

1. Open Groups → Templates → organisation → template → Channels.
2. Click the pencil icon next to the General channel.
3. Change the Name and, if needed, enter a Channel content template.
4. Save the template.

Add additional channels

Via the template, additional public and private channels can be created, given permissions and filled with predefined content during provisioning.

1. Open Groups → Templates → organisation → template → Channels.

2. Click Add channel.

3. Enter the Name.

4. Under Channel type, select Standard or Private.

   For private channels, both the default users and the users entered in the request are added to the channel automatically. Therefore, only additional owners and members need to be entered here. Groups are not possible, only individual users.

5. If needed, enter the path to a folder in a SharePoint library under Channel content template.

   The folders and files it contains are copied to the channel when the team is created.

6. Click Add channel and then Save.
