Apply Purview sensitivity labels

The sensitivity label in the template is assigned to every new workspace. Only labels published in Microsoft Purview for groups and sites are available.

Sensitivity labels require Microsoft Purview licences.

Set the sensitivity label

1. Open Groups → Templates → organisation → template → Group.
2. Under Sensitivity label, select the label.
3. Save the template.

Note

Owners can change the label of a workspace later. More information: Sensitivity labels for Teams, groups and sites

Recommendations

• Set up and use sensitivity labels if Purview is available.
• Start with labels at group level. This lets you control guest access, visibility and external sharing consistently.
