Subscriptions

Not every change happens in Seamless. For example, an owner changes the visibility of their team directly in Microsoft Teams or allows guests, even though the template does not permit it. To detect such deviations, Seamless subscribes to changes at Microsoft. This is called drift detection.

How it works:

  1. Seamless registers with Microsoft Graph that it wants to be notified about changes. This is a subscription.
  2. When a group or user changes, Microsoft notifies Seamless immediately.
  3. Seamless compares the change with the template and flags deviations.

Subscriptions are a preview feature.

Overview

Under Monitoring > Subscriptions you see the active subscriptions:

ColumnDescription
ResourceWhat is monitored: groups for groups and teams, users for users and guests.
Change typeWhich changes are reported, for example updated.
ExpirationUntil when the subscription is valid. Microsoft lets subscriptions expire after a few days, Seamless renews them automatically.
StatusWhether the subscription is active.

With Renew you extend a subscription immediately, with Cancel you end it. Without an active subscription, Seamless only detects changes on the next run of the jobs.
