Set up an organisation
An organisation reflects the structure of your company, for example the whole company, a location, a division or a department. Each organisation contains templates that control how groups are created, which permissions apply, what happens on archiving and what is possible in the app.
The organisation is therefore the first step: only once an organisation exists can you create templates in it.
For users to create teams in the Seamless app, you need at least one organisation with an active template.
As an example, we set up the organisation Contoso.
Organisation overview
Under Groups > Templates you see all organisations with:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Organisation | Name of the organisation. |
| Templates | Number of templates in the organisation. |
| Audience | Who the organisation is available to, for example Everyone. |
| Identifier | ID of the organisation for the API. |
Use Filter by name to search for an organisation. Use the pencil icon to edit an organisation and the bin icon to delete it.
Create an organisation
Open a new organisation
In the Admin Center, open Groups > Templates and click Add organisation.
Enter the details
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Name of the organisation, division, department, location or similar. Users see it in the app. You can change it at any time. | Contoso |

Restricting to specific groups requires Microsoft Entra ID P1.

Click Save. The organisation appears in the overview.
Templates of the organisation
Open the organisation with the pencil icon. Under Templates you see all templates of the organisation with:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Name of the template. The icons next to it show the most important settings at a glance, for example team, visibility and guest access. |
| Approval | Whether requests must be approved. |
| Availability | Where the template is available, for example App & API. |
| Audience | Who the template is available to. |
| Identifier | ID of the template for the API. |
Use Add template to create a new template. The guide Create a template shows how.
For Contoso, these are for example the templates Project for projects with customers and external guests and Internal for internal projects and collaboration.
